Kello-Bilt Advantages

We don’t manufacture tillage equipment for every agricultural and industrial application. We focus on the tough stuff. Durable harrow and ripper equipment is our niche.

Durable

Welded steel-boron alloy engineered for strength, flexibility, &  superior wear resistance over rigid cast tillage equipment

Low-Maintenance

Self-lubricating oil bath bearings with reinforced bearing standards & wear plates. One-piece welded gang bar prevents disc assembly and bearing failure common to multi-part assemblies.

Supported by a Vast Dealer Network

We only select dealers that represent the Kellough family values of outstanding quality and service delivery that made Kello-Bilt an internationally recognized brand of heavy tillage equipment.

Self-Lubricating Oil Bath Bearing

The oil-bath system features back-to-back tapered roller bearings operating in 90W gear oil and sealed with Duo-Cone TM seals. The gang shaft is slipped through the bore of the interior axle (yellow). Bearings and seals are mounted on the interior axle (yellow) and neither the bearings nor seals are in direct contact with the gang shaft.

Half spools (red) are pressed onto either end of the interior axle. The half spools bottom out against the ends of the interior axle and, therefore, the interior axle carries the compression forces when the gang is tightened.

Pressure against the half spools is transmitted to the seal retainers (white) and thereby to the Duo-Cone TM seals. The bearing pre-load is set through the use of gaskets between the bolt-on end cap (green) and the housing (blue).

The oil-bath bearing is available in three sizes:

The 1-5/8″ gang axle is used on models 155.

The 2-1/8″ gang axle is used on models 225, 225TSW, 225DOW, 275, 275F & 275DR.

The 2-1/2″ gang axle is used on models 325,400, 500, 600 & 800.

Gang Shaft & End Washer Disc Gang Assembly

Manufactured from our industry-leading steel-boron alloy and heat treated for further protection against stretching, bending, or breaking in tough soil conditions. The end washers lock the gang shaft assembly together for optimal fit and greater durability.

The threaded ends of the gang axle (grey) have a flat surface machined along one edge. There is a corresponding flat surface through the bore of the end washer (blue). Therefore the end washer (blue) cannot rotate on the gang axle (gray). The axle nut (yellow) is tightened against the end washer (blue). Once tight, the nut lock (red), which has a hexagonal cut out, is placed over the axle nut (yellow) and bolted to the end washer (blue). In effect, the end washer, axle nut and nut lock are now one assembly. Because the end washer (blue) cannot rotate on the gang axle (gray), neither can the axle nut (yellow) and the entire assembly of disc blades, oil-bath bearings and spacer spools cannot loosen.

A simple yet effective locking system at both ends of the gang axle keeps the entire gang assembly tight.

Single Weldment Gang Bar

Our high-strength Gang Bar is fabricated from a single weldment for maximum stability. Our patented one-piece design prevents disc and bearing failure caused by stretched or loosened components of multi-part gang bar assemblies.

  • The gang bar is often the least appreciated weldment on a disc.
  • The gang bar is the foundation for the essential working components of the implement.
  • A Kello-Bilt gang bar is fabricated as a single weldment.

The bearing standards are welded to the main beam and reinforced with heavy strap gussets. There are no U-bolts to stretch and loosen, which would inevitably result in loose disc assemblies and bearing failures. The scraper bars are welded to the main beam, thereby providing solid support for heavy aggressive moldboard scrapers and contributing to the overall rigidity of the weldment.

A bolt-together gang bar benefits the manufacturer by simplifying the processes of fabrication and shipping but cheats the farmer by reducing durability and increasing maintenance costs. When completely assembled, the Kello-Bilt gang bar and disc assembly are unmatched in durability primarily as a result of this key weldment.

Alloy Steel Disc Blades

Notched, Smooth, and multi-purpose Sawtooth tiller blades provide maximum strength & flexibility across a range of soil conditions. Our patented steel-boron alloy offers superior wear resistance for all agricultural, infrastructure, and commercial land development applications.

Notched Blade

Notched blades penetrate soil more aggressively as the weight per inch of the circumference is greater between the notches rather than being spread out over the continuous circumference of a smooth disc blade. They are most effective in heavy clay or compacted soils with or without heavy residue and as primary tillage in perennial crops and pastures. A standard feature of disc blades greater than 30” in diameter used in industrial applications.

Smooth Blade

The original disc blade is most useful in sandy or light organic soils with light to medium residue. They will provide a smooth finish as secondary tillage and are often used on the rear gangs in conjunction with notched disc blades.

Sawtooth Blades

A recent innovation, these blades provide many of the benefits of both the smooth and notched disc blade. Most noticeably the sawtooth profile is maintained throughout the life of the blade providing effective cutting action even as the blade is worn away. The sawtooth blade represents the next step in the continuing technical advance of Kello-Bilt discs.

Protective Powder Coating

The durability of our heavy-duty tillage equipment demands a long-lasting finish.

Kello’s yellow powder coat finish is thicker, harder, and less toxic than spray paint providing long-lasting corrosive protection, higher wear resistance from soil abrasion, and safer electrostatic application.

What Our Customers Have To Say About Us

Providing customer satisfaction is our greatest achievement. Your experience with Kello-Bilt reflects our strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.

John Grutterink

2009 Model 225 DOW 32ft

Kello-Bilt stood out because of the oil bath bearings. The ease of adjustment makes the disc simple and easy to use. Durability is best in class for the weight of the disc.

Bruce Grutterink

1997 Model 225 W 20ft

I choose Kello-Bilt because it was Canadian made, the reliability of the oil bath bearings made the disc low maintenance and I was able to grease it and get in the field without any issues. I would recommend a Kello-bilt to other farmers because they are built tough and reliable. When it comes to the team at Kello-Bilt, they always have parts available when you finally have to replace or fix something on your disc.
