Shaft material used by KELLO-BILT is of high carbon alloy steel to eliminate gang stretch and the resulting loose gangs and premature bearing and shaft failure of discs using more common materials of lesser quality. Gang shafts are threaded at both ends. Each end has a milled flat side that matches a flat surface through the bore of the end washer. This prevents the end washer from turning on the gang shaft. The axle nut is tightened and then locked in position with a block bolted to the endwasher and against one face of the nut. |
